Homemade vs. Pre-Cooked Meal Delivery: When to Go With Each

With over 100 million viewers each February, we all love the excitement, the entertainment, and even the commercials of the Super Bowl.

Many of us enjoy the game with friends and family at a party, a fun way to come together and cheer on your team. If you’re throwing the party this year, what’s on the menu?

It’s hard to please everyone, but you want foods that are easy to eat, delicious, and won’t take you, as the host, too long to prepare.

Why not make this year a Super Bowl pizza party? With lots of great pizzas, snacks, appetizers, and drinks, your guests are sure to have an amazing afternoon.

To get started, keep reading for our top pizza party menu ideas—yum!

1. Nachos

If there’s one food people love at Super Bowl parties, it’s nachos. They’re messy, oozing with cheese, and are satisfying to snack on throughout the game.

They’re also easy to make yourself. Load up a few plates or corn or tortilla chips with your favorite toppings, including pork or beef mince, shredded chicken, jalapenos, black beans, salsa, and tomato.

When assembling, alternate your layers with shredded cheese and your toppings. Then, pop into the oven for about five minutes, to heat everything and melt your cheese.

Serve with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.

2. DIY Super Bowl Pizza

Super Bowls are the best time for pizza party food. When planning your event, why not make it a DIY pizza bar? Guests can put together their own pizzas with their toppings of choice.

It’s especially fun for kids, who will love creating their pizza base with tomato party menus, why not set up a DIY pizza bar?

In addition to pizza bases, cheese, and tomato sauce, you may want to offer olives, seafood, pepperoni, BBQ chicken, and lots of sliced veggies.

The best way to grill your pizzas is with a backyard pizza oven— check out this article from bbqultimate.com to learn more.

Pizza is a delicious favorite at any Super Bowl party— just serve with paper plates, napkins, and your favorite drinks.

3. Pigs in a Blanket

What goes well with pizza? Pigs in a blanket, of course!

This classic appetizer will never go out of style and is easy to eat while you’re standing up and watching the game. They first came into style in the 1950s, thanks to a Betty Crocker cookbook for kids, but have been popular ever since with both kids and adults.

You can buy them frozen, but they’re also easy to make yourself.

You’ll need crescent or puff pastry, cocktail wieners, butter, and salt. Place each wiener on a bit of pastry dough and wrap it gently.

Give them a brush of butter and a sprinkle of salt and then bake until golden.

4. Chicken Wings

Another great recipe for your Super Bowl pizza party is chicken wings. They’re a delicious side-item and fun (but messy!) finger food.

Luckily, they are easy to make. Simply marinate your wings in your sauce of choice, such as buffalo, honey mustard, or BBQ, then grill.

Serve with ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce, along with plenty of napkins!

As a vegetarian alternative, you can use cauliflower instead of chicken. It’s equally delicious and makes a good meat-free option.

5. Veggie Egg Rolls

Another fun side item for a Super Bowl party is veggie egg rolls. They’re a tasty appetizer and easy to snack on.

To make from scratch, you’ll need egg roll wrappers, which can be purchased at most supermarkets, along with shredded veggies to go inside them.

Good choices include cabbage, onion, carrots, and mushrooms, along with soy, ginger, and sesame oil.

They pair well with a few different sauces, including duck, orange, and soy.

6. Pizza Bagels

In addition to your woodfired pizzas, why not add pizza bagels to your menu? They’re also a popular party food and are very filling.

You can use any bagel as your base. Slice in half, then add cheese, tomato sauce, and your toppings of choice
.
Try adding salami, ham, peppers, or any other veggies.

Remember that each bagel makes two pizzas, so plan accordingly, It’s also a good idea to toast your bagels slightly before putting them in the oven, otherwise they won’t have that great crispy texture.

After they’ve been toasted and are ready to go in the oven, bake them on a cookie sheet for about 5-10 minutes or until the cheese looks melted.

Everyone loves a pizza bagel so be sure to add them to your menu!

7. Football Cookies

With all your great pizzas and appetizers, don’t forget to also offer something sweet for your Super Bowl guests to snack on.

Cookies are a great dessert. To keep in the spirit of the day, try making football-shaped sugar cookies.

Look for a football-shaped cookie cutter, and bake a tray of sugar cookies. With frosting, you can decorate them like little footballs, complete with laces!

Or, why not bake cupcakes? You can make two sets— each decorated with icing in the colors of each team.

Eating a cupcake of your favorite team is a great way to show support— and to learn which of your friends are going for each team!

Start Planning the Best Super Bowl Party With These Recipes

Let’s face it — one of the best reasons to go to Super Bowl parties is for the food. Use the recipes above to plan your perfect Super Bowl pizza party, with plenty of delicious sweet and savory snacks for everyone.

Once you’ve planned your menu, go shopping and start preparing well in advance. The more you can get ready the day before, the less work you’ll have to do on the actual day.

Even as the host, you still want to make sure you have time to watch the big game!
